Ogun Monarch Coronation: Obasanjo, Amosun Honour Oba Adediran’s Installation

Ogun State, NigeriaFormer President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, were among the dignitaries who attended the coronation of Oba Oluseyi Adediran as the Towulade of Owu-Akinale.

The ceremony, held on Saturday in Ewekoro Local Government Area, was confirmed in a statement released by the new monarch on Monday.

In his goodwill remarks, Senator Amosun described Owu-Akinale as a key town in the Owu Kingdom, urging the king to embrace unity, inclusiveness, and peace during his reign. He prayed for wisdom and strength, expressing confidence that Oba Adediran’s leadership would bring development to the community.

Similarly, Oba Matemilola commended the monarch’s contributions prior to his ascension, highlighting his sponsorship of a health centre, the foundation of a police station, and efforts to revive the community’s town hall project.

“With these visible initiatives, we are optimistic that his reign will usher in prosperity and growth for Owu-Akinale,” Matemilola said.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Adediran expressed gratitude to God, his family, and stakeholders, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, whom he referred to as the Olori Omoba of Ogun State. He pledged his loyalty to the state government and outlined plans for projects in security, education, and infrastructure.

He also applauded his wife, Olori Oluwafolakemi Adediran, for leading the Educational Trust Fund aimed at expanding access to quality education in the community.

Other attendees included juju legend Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, Aare Kazeem Bakinson, businessman Kazeem Odeyeyiwa, Hon. Babajide Ogunshina, and Barrister Daniel Aramide.

Governor Abiodun, represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment, officially confirming Oba Adediran as Otileta I, Towulade of Owu-Akinale.
