In Ogun State, a 23-year-old man named Azeez Akinpelu has been sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court. He was found guilty of multiple charges including conspiracy, possession of firearms, manslaughter, attempted murder, and murder.
The prosecution presented evidence that Akinpelu, residing in Owode, conspired with friends to fatally shoot Rokibat Odeyale on March 27, 2021, during the Orile Igbeyin Day celebration in Atala, Igbeyin, Owode Egbe area of Ogun. The court heard that the gunshot was aimed at children dancing and entertaining guests.
Justice O.O Stanley declared Akinpelu guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and handed down multiple sentences, including death by hanging.
