Oba of Benin celebrates mid-year thanksgiving

Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, yesterday, marked 2024 midyear thanksgiving service with his family at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin City, where prayers were offered for the continuous peace and good in the kingdom.

Some groups, including members of the royal family, HRH Sule Idaiye, the Imma of Somorika Clan in Akoko-Edo and others joined the Oba to thank God and his ancestors for his mercy and good health since he ascended the throne of his forebears.

Also present were palace chiefs, engie (Benin dukes), priests and priestesses, governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the September 21, 2024 Edo State governorship election, Mr. Olumide Akpata, which featured soul lifting songs, prayers and unique performances by Igbo cultural dance troupe, professional hunters and members of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, as well as other dignitaries who paid tributes to the Royal father.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro said the service offered Oba Ewuare II’s subjects to acquaint themselves with the royal father as a dependable beacon of hope for Edo people at home and diaspora.
