Ibadan, Nigeria— Oba Rasidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State and Olubadan-designate, will be officially crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025.
The development follows the approval of his nomination by Governor Seyi Makinde, paving the way for the coronation ceremony at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Confirming the event, Chief Adeola Oloko, media aide to the Olubadan-designate, said preparations were already in top gear, noting that Oba Ladoja had met with the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence earlier this week.
Sources disclosed that the monarch-designate also held a closed-door meeting with the kingmakers on Tuesday at his private residence in Old Bodija, which lasted nearly two hours. The meeting marked his first official engagement with the council since the passing of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The coronation is expected to attract dignitaries from across Nigeria as Ibadan ushers in a new era of traditional leadership.
