The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called for fairness and honest justice across all societal segments.
NYSC legal officers have been encouraged to be beacons of hope and justice within the organization and society at large.
This directive was issued by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, at the commencement of a workshop for legal officers in Abuja, themed “Optimizing the Capacity of Legal Officers for Organizational Compliance with Statutory Provisions.”
Represented by Director of Procurement, Chief Chukwu Ogbonaya, Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized the importance of legal officers acquiring technical expertise to efficiently perform their duties.
In a message delivered at the workshop, the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, represented by Justice Njideka Nwosu, described lawyers as champions of human rights, defenders of the poor, and pillars of democracy. He urged legal officers to maintain ethics and professionalism in their work.
Acting Director of Legal Services, Christopher Ogar, explained that the workshop aims to enhance the capacity of legal officers within the scheme, providing quality legal advice to management and overseeing the Legal Aid Scheme, among other responsibilities.
