Abuja, Nigeria — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to celebrate athletes who recently brought honor to the FCT through their exceptional performance in various competitions.
The announcement was made in a statement highlighting that the special reception, scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025, is aimed at recognizing the athletes’ remarkable achievements.
The athletes distinguished themselves during their participation in events such as the National Youth Games (NYG) and the National Sports Festival (NSF), prompting the Minister’s approval of the celebratory event.
“This reception is a testament to the athletes’ sacrifice, patriotism, and unwavering determination, which not only brought prestige to the FCT but also projected a positive image of the territory in sports,” the statement read.
