Nwabali Confident in Super Eagles’ World Cup Hopes

Lagos, NigeriaSuper Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed strong belief in Nigeria’s ability to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s current standing in the qualifying campaign.

Speaking during an interview with Brila FM, the Chippa United shot-stopper acknowledged that while the path to qualification may appear challenging, the squad remains determined and focused on turning things around in the remaining fixtures.

Nigeria, a three-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, currently sits in fourth place in their qualification group and must secure maximum points in their upcoming matches to boost their chances of claiming the sole World Cup ticket from the group.

Nwabali urged fans and analysts not to underestimate the unpredictability of football. “Being Nigeria doesn’t mean we automatically win every match,” he stated. “But we still have a clear chance. It’s not over yet.”

He emphasized that the team will adopt a match-by-match approach, treating each fixture with renewed focus and intensity. “We’re taking it one game at a time. Our objective is to give everything in the next four matches and see where that takes us,” he added.

With the stakes rising and fan expectations growing, Nwabali’s confidence reflects the Super Eagles’ resilience and determination to return to the global stage in 2026.
