Following the killing of two young men by suspected herdsmen on Saturday, there is tension in Ukpata and Opanda communities in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
While a yet-to-be-identified student of Nsukka High School was shot at Ukwuakpu, between Ukpata and Uvuru communities, another victim fell to the bullets of the nomads at Opanda, all in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
It was reported that the student was pleading with the herdsmen not to rape her sister when he was shot. It further gathered that the rape victim is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
And that the latter victim was coming from Adani to Opanda when he ran into the rampaging herdsmen and was killed in cold blood.
Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area has come under severe attacks from herdsmen in the recent past with the killing of mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo.
Recently, the herders had also killed others in different parts of the council area.
