The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has apprehended four men for the alleged rape of two minors in the state.
The suspects, identified as Sadiq Opeyemi, Afeez Olalekan, Ismail Ibrahim, and Abdulahi Garba, were arrested on December 3 in Iwo, Iwo Local Government Area.
The NSCDC Commandant in Osun, Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed that the girls, aged 13, were enticed by the suspects with N500 and exploited multiple times.
During a parade of the suspects in Osogbo, the state capital, Mr. Sotiyo emphasized that the perpetrators confessed to the crime.
He noted that the minors, who were in the care of their grandparents, unfortunately, fell victim to the suspects while trying to fend for themselves due to inadequate care.
An investigation exposed the suspect’s criminal activities, and Mr. Sotiyo assured the public that they would face the full consequences of the law to deter others from engaging in similar offenses.
The suspects, in their statements to the press, admitted to giving money to the girls and engaging in sexual acts with them on various occasions and locations.
