NPA and TTP Introduce Electronic Tags to Enhance Cargo Delivery Efficiency

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP) have collaborated to introduce Electronic tags (E-tags) aimed at enhancing cargo delivery efficiency at ports. The Managing Director of TTP, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, highlighted that this innovative solution will be provided to truckers at no cost and is expected to bring about significant improvements in port operations, including efficiency and security.

This initiative intends to tackle issues related to non-compliance with Minimum Standard Procedure (MSP) and improve the overall business environment for truckers and the maritime industry. The decision to implement E-tag technology was made after receiving support from the NPA Managing Director at a stakeholders meeting in Lagos.

TTP has made a commitment to fund the project entirely, demonstrating its commitment to investing in the digital infrastructure of Nigeria’s ports for long-term benefit. This project reflects TTP’s dedication to driving efficiency and embracing advanced technology within the maritime sector in alignment with the objectives of the NPA and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Committee (PEBEC).
