No fewer than 70 died bodies found in Israeli air strike on Gaza refugee camp – Hamas

Israeli airstrikes in the central Al-Maghazi refugee camp in Gaza have reportedly killed at least 70 people, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

The spokesperson for the Ministry added that the death toll is likely to rise, as many families are living in the area. It is unknown if the victims were civilians or militants. This comes amid reports that Egypt, which borders Gaza, has proposed a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The terms of the ceasefire have not been made public.

Dozens of wounded people were reportedly carried from the Maghazi refugee camp to Al-Aqsa Hospital, which is nearby. The Health Ministry has said that three houses were hit by the air strike, which occurred on Sunday evening.

Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesperson for the Health Ministry, said that a densely populated residential area was destroyed in the attack. No other details have been released at this time. Some of the injured have been reported as being in critical condition.

A man has told the media that his daughter and grandchildren were killed in the airstrikes, and that his family had left their home in the north of Gaza for safety in central Gaza.

According to the Health Ministry, more than 20,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of the violence on 7 October, with a majority of them being children and women. A further 54,000 people have been injured. Since 7 October, Hamas and other Palestinian groups have attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking approximately 240 hostages. These numbers do not include those killed or injured in Israel’s offensive.
