The Nigerian Air Force says its aircraft, during a surveillance mission, took out a gun truck, killing about 8 terrorists at Baranga village, Marte Local Government Area, Borno State.
This took place during the early hours of Wednesday under “Operation Hadin Kai”.
Director of Public Relations and Information of the Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a statement said an opportunity strike presented itself unexpectedly when 2 armed terrorists on a motorcycle along an active track were trailed.
It states that when the terrorists saw the aircraft, they hid under the cover of thick vegetation.
When their vegetation cover was targeted, a gun vehicle carrying eight terrorists unexpectedly surfaced and drove away to escape the attack.
The gun truck was then engaged and destroyed, eliminating the terrorists.
The statement also noted that remaining terrorists in the northeast continue to seek the cover of thick forests and vegetation to evade being detected by the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
It continues by stating that the incident is a clear indication of the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force towards ensuring that terrorists find it difficult to randomly roam about freely attacking law-abiding Nigerians.
