No less is being done to combat gender-based violence and increase girls’ education—Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has maintained that his administration is still following through on its plans to reduce gender-based violence and provide more learning opportunities for girls in secure settings. During his remarks at the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development’s (OAFLAD) WeAreEqual Campaign launch on Monday at the Presidential Villa’s Old Banquet Hall in Abuja, the President reaffirmed his commitment. The President believes that there is no way to overstate the value of educating girls and advancing gender equality.

As he praised OAFLAD for taking the initiative to launch the campaign, Tinubu also reminded attendees that it had been successfully launched in fifteen other African nations, emphasising the importance of Africa’s development and the campaign’s focus in Nigeria, “Education as a Powerful Tool for Change.” “We must engender a society where everyone has the same opportunities, regardless of who they are, because doing so leads to a stronger and more peaceful society for all,” he said. “We must continue to create opportunities for all our children to access quality education without leaving anyone behind, particularly the girl child.” He praised the First Ladies of Africa for their dedication to promoting gender parity and reducing the gender divide in appointments and opportunities throughout the continent.

He praised the African First Ladies’ “commitment and dedication” to “advancing gender equality and narrowing the gender gap in opportunities and appointments across the African continent” as members of OAFLAD. The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was also commended by the President for her efforts in promoting education as the main means of advancing gender equality. I would also like to congratulate my lovely wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, on her decision to use education as the main weapon to support this campaign across the country, he stated. He also mentioned how important it is for Africa’s growth that the #WeAreEqual Campaign, with its focus on “Education as a Powerful Tool for Change,” be launched in Nigeria.

In order to achieve gender parity and guarantee equal chances for all, education is a crucial tool for change, and this campaign, which is being launched in Nigeria, is centred around this idea.
