LAGOS , NIGERIA – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Lagos State lawmaker, Mr. Olusegun Olulade, has assured that the party remains strong and united despite the recent resignation of its National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, Olulade urged opposition parties not to misinterpret Ganduje’s resignation as a sign of internal crisis within the ruling party. He emphasized that the former chairman stepped down purely on health grounds.
“Ganduje himself has clarified that his resignation was due to health concerns. There is no internal conflict, no division—APC remains solid and focused,” Olulade stated.
The former lawmaker, who currently serves as Executive Director at Galaxy Backbone Limited, dismissed speculations of instability and expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
“There is absolutely nothing to fear. Our party is getting stronger by the day, and we are confident of victory in 2027,” he said. “The opposition should not read negativity into what is a personal and courageous decision.”
Olulade commended Ganduje for what he described as a rare and honourable move in Nigerian politics, adding that the former chairman had demonstrated integrity.
“It’s not common in our political space to see leaders voluntarily resign due to health issues. Ganduje has written his name in gold with that bold step,” he added.
He further stressed that the APC is not only stable but continues to grow, while the opposition, he claimed, is the one now showing signs of unease.
“The party is not in crisis; rather, it is the opposition that appears unsettled. We remain focused and unshaken,” Olulade concluded.
