The newly appointed board members of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL) have pledged their commitment to President Tinubu’s goal of increasing the country’s oil production to 2 million barrels per day by next year. In a briefing to State House correspondents in Abuja, the Chairman of the Board, Okokon Ekanem Udo, emphasized that the board would work hard to make NNPCL a company that would support the economy and help the government to improve the lives of Nigerians.
The board members stated that they would make NNPCL a company that would be financially sustainable, efficient, and transparent, and that they would focus on creating value for Nigerians. The board members acknowledged the importance of their roles and pledged to work together to achieve the company’s goals. They expressed their gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and reiterated their commitment to working for the benefit of the Nigerian people. The board members also expressed their commitment to being accountable and transparent in all their dealings and decisions.
The new board members have shown great enthusiasm and a desire to get to work, and their first goal is to increase oil production to meet the President’s goal.
“He has assured us of his support, and on our part too, we have given him our 100 percent assurance that we would do the best we could to make sure that the key performance indicators of the oil industry would probably become number one in Africa and probably compete with leading oil and gas industries around the world,” he said.
Mr. Udo acknowledged that improving oil production will be a challenge given the current security situation, which has led to an increase in pipeline vandalism and oil theft. He suggested that improving the nation’s security would be crucial to solving this problem. Mr. Udo also noted that the board would need to work closely with the Nigerian people and other stakeholders to address these issues.
In summary, Mr. Udo and the other board members face significant challenges in achieving the President’s goal of increasing oil production, including security concerns, but they are committed to working together to address these issues.
