Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger state Chapter has requested for the payment of N50,000 palliative for all categories of workers and pensioners in the state.
State Chairman of Niger State, NLC, Comrade Abdulkarim Lafene made the demand while declaring open a one-day workshop, organised by Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees held in Minna, the state capital.
Comrade Lafene explained that the demand covers both casual and local government councils staff towards enhancing their living standard.
The NLC Chairman also called on the Niger state government to suspend the ”pay as you earn” until further review of minimum wage, improvement of security situation and payment of outstanding annual leave grant for categories of workers that are yet to benefit at the state and local government councils among other organisations.
NLC also asked for immediate implementation of approved minimum pension based on N30,000 minimum wage to all categories of retirees as well as immediate promotion and annual increment to staff of state and local government councils.
