The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) have revealed a strategic partnership focused on bolstering National Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to foster synergy among digital identity frameworks, payment systems, and facilitate seamless data exchange in Nigeria.
Announced through NITDA’s official communication channel on Wednesday, the collaboration aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fortifying Nigeria’s digital economy.
During a high-level meeting, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, and NIMC’s Director General, Bisoye Coker-Odusote, along with key management personnel from both entities, deliberated on various initiatives. These include the establishment of DPI frameworks to ensure secure data exchange and forging partnerships to revamp the national identity ecosystem.
The collaboration underscores a concerted effort to leverage the country’s innovative landscape and promote the adoption of public-key infrastructure (PKI) to propel digital transformation across Nigeria.
To facilitate the seamless execution of these initiatives, a 12-member committee has been formed. Tasked with kickstarting and harmonizing the collaborative efforts, this committee is expected to deliver a comprehensive implementation report within the next four weeks.
