Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) is poised to unveil its 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) and the State of the Climate in Nigeria report, marking a groundbreaking step toward inclusivity and accessibility.
For the first time, the SCP will be presented in three major Nigerian languages, a move aimed at ensuring wider reach and understanding among citizens.
This was revealed in a statement by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Prof. Charles Anosike, who underscored the critical role of early warnings in promoting climate resilience and sustainable development across key sectors, particularly aviation.
2025 Theme
The theme for this year’s SCP is “The Role of Early Warnings towards a Climate-Resilient Aviation Industry for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.”

– Agriculture: Predicting the duration of the cropping season.
– Aviation: Enhancing operational safety through early warnings.
– Disaster Risk Management: Mitigating climate-related hazards.
– Health: Issuing Malaria and Meningitis vigilance forecasts.
– Energy: Supporting hydro and renewable energy planning.
– Water Resources, Telecommunication, Tourism, and Transport: Informing policies and operations.
