Nigerian Oborududu to Compete for Bronze in Women’s Wrestling

Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu is set to compete for the bronze medal in the women’s 68kg freestyle wrestling on Tuesday. The experienced wrestler has demonstrated remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament.

Oborududu’s path to the bronze medal match started with a decisive 8-2 victory over Canada’s Linda Morais in the first round.

She continued her strong performance by defeating France’s Koumba Larroque 6-2 in the quarterfinals, securing her place in the semifinals.

However, Oborududu faced a narrow 1-3 defeat to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova in the semifinals, leading her to the bronze medal match.

With a history of resilience and determination, Nigeria remains hopeful that Oborududu can achieve a podium finish.

Notably, Blessing Oborududu secured her record eleventh consecutive gold medal at the 2022 African Wrestling Championship in Morocco.
