Nigeria needs $9.2bn to address water, hygiene – UNICEF

About $9.2 billion is required to address the funding gap in Water Sanitation and Hygiene Services (WASH) sector of the country, UNICEF had said

Representative of UNICEF Country Rep, Rownak Khan and UNICEF WASH Manager, Chiranjibi Tiwari said to achieve the road-map for the WASH sector all hands must be on deck.

Addressing the delegation, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof Joseph Utse agreed that sustained partnership with the Federal Government would help improve access to water supply and achieve the campaign to end open defecation.

He acknowledged the contributions of UNICEF to the Nation’s growth and development in the areas of Education, Health, Water and Sanitation.

Also the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo emphasised the need for stakeholders in the WASH Sector to up their game in supporting the Federal Government to actualise the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.

The Meeting had in attendance, the Permanent Secretary, Dame Didi Walson-Jack and some Directors in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
