Nigeria Immigration Service Raises Passport Application Fees to ₦100,000, ₦200,000

Abuja, NigeriaThe Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an upward review of the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with the new rates scheduled to take effect from September 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the revised fees apply strictly to passport applications made within Nigeria.

“The new fee structure sets the cost of the 32-page passport with five-year validity at ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with ten-year validity will now cost ₦200,000,” the statement confirmed.

The Service, however, clarified that passport fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page (five years) and $230 for the 64-page (ten years).

According to the NIS, the adjustment is designed to sustain the quality, integrity, and security of the Nigerian passport while ensuring continued accessibility for citizens.
