Nigeria Engages Stakeholders on Renewable Energy

The Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, has initiated discussions with global stakeholders to explore new opportunities for climate finance and risk mitigation platforms aimed at boosting renewable energy technology manufacturing in Nigeria.

Chief Ngelale held a virtual meeting with the Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Supo Olusi, and his team to review existing climate finance partnerships and projects, with the goal of expanding current collaborations and establishing new connections to support the growth of Nigeria’s green industry.

In a separate productive discussion, he engaged with a technical team from the British High Commission, led by Climate Head Mrs. Martine Sobey, to explore new avenues for collaboration across various climate action sectors.

Chief Ngelale also exchanged insights with the Country Lead on NDC Partnerships, Mr. Huzi Mshelia, to evaluate progress and ensure timely implementation of ongoing projects.

Our correspondent reports that other key stakeholders involved include the Executive Vice President of Oando Clean Energy, Mr. Demola Ogunbanjo, member of U.S. President Joe Biden’s Advisory Council on African Relations, Ms. Mimi Alemayehou, and USAID Director for Economic Growth and Sustainability, Ms. Michelle Corzine.
