A three-day multi-sector trade and investment forum aimed at strengthening the economic and business ties between Nigeria and Tunisia was held at the John Wood Hotel, Abuja. The event, which began on September 10, was organized through the collaboration of the Tunisia-Africa Business Council (TABC), the Nigerian Embassy in Tunis, and the Tunisian Embassy in Abuja.
Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Monsit Antit, officially opened the forum, welcoming delegates from Tunisia, Nigerian government officials, and business representatives.
Anis Jaziri, President of the TABC, led a delegation of 20 Tunisian businesses from various sectors to the forum. During his remarks, Jaziri highlighted the significant opportunities for both nations, stating, “This forum presents major opportunities for both countries, and I am pleased to lead this Tunisian business delegation.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, represented by Ambassador Bolaji Akinjide, praised the forum, calling it a catalyst for enhancing the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Tunisia. “Nigeria is open for business with Tunisia,” said Tuggar. He described the forum as a positive step toward economic collaboration, aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of attracting foreign investors to Nigeria.
The minister also commended Hakeem Falusi, Charge d’affaires and head of the Nigerian Embassy in Tunisia, for fostering the strong relationship between both nations, encouraging Tunisian businesses to view Nigeria as an investment destination.
The forum was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from Abia State, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the University of Abuja, the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Enugu State Chamber of Commerce, and other key officials.
