The Niger State government has declared three day work free to fastrack the distribution of palliative to the 25 local government councils, from Wednesday to Friday next week.
The state governor, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bago, stated this at his maiden press conference in Minna, the state capital.
He explained that the work free day for civil servants in Niger state was to enable citizens participate in the distribution of the palliative.
The Government directed all political appointees, including Permanent Secretaries and Local Government Council Chairman who are members of standing Committees established by the state government, to return to their ward for palliative distribution.
According to him, all for traditional rulers, pensioners and members of all political parties are automatic members of the standing Committees.
Alhaji Umar Bago issued a warning that anyone discovered to be involved in the diversion of palliative care, regardless of their position, will face jail time as a deterrent to others.
He stated they have already received two billion naira, with five trucks of rice. As forty thousand bags of maize are being awaited in addition to expecting two billion naira from the Federal Government.
Alhajo Umar Bago added that they plan to employ one million people in the agricultural sector through farming.
