At a recent two-day workshop in Abuja organized by CBM Global Disability Inclusion, participants advocated for government initiatives to empower individuals with psychosocial disabilities as a means to achieve sustainable development.
Abdulazeez Musa, Country Director of CBM Global Disability Inclusion, highlighted the importance of protecting the rights of those with mental health conditions and raising awareness during the workshop titled “Strengthening Organisational Capacity of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities in Nigeria.”
Musa emphasized that inclusive participation of all disabled individuals would help address psychosocial challenges, thereby boosting the country’s socioeconomic development.
Olayinka Egbukare, representing Succed Africa, stressed that empowering people with psychosocial disabilities could help tackle significant societal issues.
Other attendees called on community leaders to actively fight against the stigma surrounding individuals with psychosocial health issues and other disabilities.
