Nigeria –The founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc, Pascal Gabriel Dozie, has died at the age of 85.
According to reports by Business Day, the respected banker and businessman passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025—just a day before his 86th birthday. Sources close to the family said he died after a prolonged battle with an age-related illness.
Pascal Dozie was a pioneer in Nigeria’s financial sector and earned widespread recognition for establishing Diamond Bank, one of the country’s most innovative banks prior to its merger with Access Bank in 2019. His leadership and business acumen helped shape the institution into a trusted brand.
Before stepping down, he handed over the reins to his son, Uzoma Dozie, ensuring a legacy of family leadership in the banking world.
He is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, five children, and numerous relatives.
