Neo Black Movement Applauds Tinubu’s Decision to Suspend Cybersecurity Levy

The Neo Black Movement, NBM of Africa, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his decision to suspend the proposed 0.5 per cent cybersecurity levy on electronic transactions nationwide.

In a statement released in Benin City, the National President of the organization, Olorogun Ese Kakor, expressed support for President Tinubu’s directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to halt the implementation of the controversial levy and initiate a review process.

Kakor described President Tinubu’s action as a responsive move, affirming that it demonstrated the President’s attentiveness to the concerns of the populace. He emphasized that the levy, if enforced, would have exacerbated the financial burden on Nigerians.

The NBM President commended President Tinubu’s proactive stance, characterizing him as a leader who is receptive to the needs of the people. Kakor emphasized the importance of addressing cybercrime while advocating for a balanced approach that safeguards citizens’ interests.

He urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s administration and its policies aimed at revitalizing the economy, underscoring the significance of patience during the implementation process. Kakor reiterated the need for collaboration in tackling cybercrime, emphasizing the imperative of upgrading relevant laws to effectively combat the scourge and restore Nigeria’s reputation.
