Minna, Nigeria — The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with 57,114 candidates securing five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
Announcing the results in Minna on Tuesday, NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, stated that the overall pass rate stood at 67.35%. The exam, which ran from November 14 to December 14, 2024, had 86,067 registered candidates.
A total of 83,220 students sat for English Language, with 62,929 (75.62%) earning credit and above, while 83,024 candidates took Mathematics, with 77,988 (93.93%) achieving credit and above.
Beyond core subjects, 70,711 candidates (83.39%) obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
Wushishi further revealed that 7 supervisors and two each from Oyo and Ogun, and one each from Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi who were blacklisted for misconduct, including poor supervision, lateness, and aiding malpractice.
Additionally, 6,160 candidates were flagged for examination malpractice, reflecting a 27.7% decline compared to 2023.
Exam participation statistics showed 44,988 males (52.27%) and 41,079 females (47.72%) registered, with 84,799 candidates eventually sitting for the exam.
NECO reaffirmed its commitment to upholding exam integrity while continuously improving assessment standards.
