Malabo, Equatorial Guinea — The National Examinations Council (NECO) has granted accreditation to additional schools in Equatorial Guinea, allowing them to participate in its Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The announcement was made in a statement by Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, confirming that a NECO accreditation team recently visited the schools to assess their preparedness for the examinations.
As part of the evaluation process, the team conducted thorough inspections of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, workshops, examination halls, sports facilities, and overall security. The assessment also reviewed continuous assessment structures and the adequacy of teaching staff.
Following a detailed review, the accredited schools were granted full approval to administer NECO examinations.
NECO emphasized that this expansion underscores its commitment to providing standardized education and assessments beyond Nigeria’s borders. The examination body currently conducts its assessments in Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Equatorial Guinea, and Saudi Arabia.
