NDLEA Seizes several drug shipments hidden in Cerelac baby food containers and clothing destined for the US and UK.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported intercepting multiple shipments of illegal drugs disguised in tins of Cerelac baby food and clothing intended for the United States and the United Kingdom at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and a courier firm in Lagos.

Specifically, 36 parcels of potent cannabis were found concealed in Cerelac baby food tins at the SAHCOL export shed at Lagos airport, weighing a total of 18.50 kilograms. A freight agent named Salaudeen Suliat Abiola, who was exporting the consignment to the UK, was arrested, as was the sender of the cargo, Bello Motunrayo Folu in Ibadan.

Additionally, NDLEA operatives intercepted five shipments containing opioids and other psychoactive substances hidden in clothes and other items bound for export to the US and UK. One of the shipments contained promethazine and pentazocine injections heading to the US, while four parcels with opioids such as tramadol and molly were destined for the UK.

Another operation at the Tincan port in Lagos resulted in the seizure of 77 packages of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, from vehicles imported from Canada. Two suspects involved in the clearance of the shipments have been arrested.

Further seizures of drugs, including codeine syrup, molly, cannabis, and psychoactive substances, were made in Mushin Ojuoye, Lagos; Isuada, Owo Council Area of Ondo State; Itaogbolu Forest, Akure North LG Area; and Egbeta Community, Ovia North East Area in Edo State, leading to the arrest of multiple individuals.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the agency’s officers and emphasized the importance of their efforts in combating drug trafficking.
