NDLEA achieves 9,043 convictions and arrests 52 drug lords.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced that it has successfully secured 9,034 convictions over the last three years.

The Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Buba Marwa, revealed this information during a Business luncheon at the Island Club in Lagos.

Additionally, the NDLEA has arrested 52,901 traffickers and 52 drug barons during this period, with many of the offenders being high-profile individuals in society.

Marwa highlighted that the agency has seized 8.6 million kilograms of various illicit drugs and destroyed 1,572 hectares of cannabis farms. These statistics showcase the extent to which drug-related crimes have permeated society.

Marwa emphasized that the high number of arrests and successful prosecutions demonstrates the agency’s dedication to combatting drug trafficking in Nigeria.

During the event, the Chairman of the Island Club, Rotimi Olasode Martins, praised Marwa for his relentless efforts in addressing drug abuse.

Martins acknowledged Marwa’s vast experience in fighting the drug menace, describing it as commendable. He further emphasized that drug abuse poses a significant threat to society, affecting the youth, families, and the overall socio-economic structure of the nation.

The partnership between NDLEA and stakeholders like the Island Club is crucial in the ongoing battle against drug-related issues in Nigeria.
