The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that all SIM cards used in Nigeria are now produced locally, marking a significant milestone in the commission’s efforts to promote local content and indigenous participation in the telecommunications industry.
Babagana Digima, Head of New Media and Information Security at NCC, credited this achievement to the work of the Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS). Digima shared this development during a training session for media executives in Lagos, underscoring the NCC’s commitment to fostering local innovation and self-reliance in the telecom sector.
This move is anticipated to boost Nigeria’s economy and enhance its technological capabilities, creating a foundation for further growth and development in the industry.
