NCAA Issues Safety Directive to Airlines for Rainy Season

The Acting Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, has issued a strong directive to airlines to prioritize the safety of crew members and passengers as the rainy season begins.

Captain Najomo highlighted the critical importance of accurate weather forecasting and preparedness. He urged airlines to provide thorough briefings on current weather conditions to their crews before each flight.

“Pilots must ensure they have the correct weather reports before flying and must avoid adverse weather conditions, especially during this rainy season,” Najomo stated.

He also advised pilots to carry extra fuel to accommodate potential diversions or go-arounds necessary for safe operations. “Take enough fuel to divert if needed, and be very cautious. I reiterate, the airspace remains very safe.”

Captain Najomo reaffirmed the NCAA’s commitment to ensuring air travel safety in Nigeria, emphasizing that this advisory is a crucial reminder for both airlines and passengers to maintain a high level of vigilance and safety during the rainy season.
