Enugu, Nigeria— The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), in partnership with Adeal Multi-Concepts International Ltd, has launched a collaborative initiative aimed at job creation through grassroots innovation and technology-driven enterprise development.
The initiative featured a three-day training programme in Enugu themed: “Modern Methods of Local Food/Agro Processing and Preservation for Job Creation.” The programme included both theoretical lectures and practical sessions and drew participants from diverse sectors, including representatives from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
Representing the NBTI Director General/CEO, Dr. Kazeem Kolawale Raji, the Centre Manager of the Enugu Technology Incubation Centre, Mrs. Thelma Ifeoma Nwabueze, delivered a welcome address highlighting the urgency and relevance of the training.
“Nigeria’s rich agricultural heritage and traditional knowledge are underutilized due to inadequate processing and preservation practices,” she said. “This programme is designed to change that by equipping participants—especially youths and women—with skills to transform raw materials into viable products, extend shelf life, reduce waste, and create sustainable livelihoods.”
Mrs. Nwabueze emphasized that the training aligns with NBTI’s mandate to support grassroots innovation, accelerate the commercialization of indigenous technologies, and strengthen incubation centres across the country.
She further stated that the programme reinforces national priorities such as economic diversification, food security, and inclusive industrial development, encouraging attendees to apply the skills learned to spark meaningful change within their communities and businesses.
One of the key highlights was a session by Mr. Ogbuzuru Stephen, who delivered a presentation on “Impact of Packaging and Branding on Product Commercialisation.” He detailed the critical role packaging and branding play in attracting customers, influencing buying decisions, and enhancing product value.
Participants expressed enthusiasm over the training and left equipped with practical tools to drive innovation-led enterprise and local development.
