Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel has qualified for the semifinals of the men’s 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympics.
Nathaniel earned his spot by finishing second in heat 4 with a time of 48.38 seconds, trailing Jamaica’s Roshawn Clark, who won the heat in 48.17 seconds.
France’s Wilfried Hippio also moved forward, securing third place in the same heat with a time of 48.42 seconds.
Nathaniel’s advancement raises hopes for a potential medal win.
In contrast, fellow Nigerian Chidi Okezie did not advance to the semifinals of the men’s 400m, finishing fifth in the repechage round.
In the women’s 400m event, Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo will compete in the repechage after placing sixth in her heat with a time of 51.65 seconds.
Additionally, her teammate Elo Esther Joseph was disqualified from the 400m race due to a lane infringement.
