Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has been awarded the Paolo Rossi award for being the top scorer in Serie A last season. The award is named after Italy’s Paolo Rossi, who was the leading goal scorer at the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Osimhen’s impressive performance saw him score 26 goals in 32 league appearances, contributing to Napoli’s Scudetto victory. He became the first African player to achieve this feat and is also the highest-scoring African in Serie A, surpassing Samuel Eto’o’s record. Osimhen has continued his success this season, already netting three goals in two league matches.
