Abuja, Nigeria — The Independent Convention Planning Committee (ICPC) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has released its official screening report, confirming 15 candidates for the presidential race ahead of the upcoming national convention.
The convention, scheduled to take place from February 23 to 27, 2025, at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, will see these aspirants contest for the leadership of the student body following a thorough vetting process.
Among those cleared to run are Anzaku Shedrack (University of Abuja), Atiku Abubakar Isa (Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba), Righteous Aondowas (Nasarawa State University, Keffi), Maiyaki Isaq Mohammed (Federal University of Technology, Minna), Benjamin Daoupam (Plateau State Polytechnic), and Agada Noah (Federal University, Lokoja).
Others on the list include Yusuf Umar (Nasarawa State University, Keffi), Gambo Abubakar Mohammed (IBB University, Lapai), Godia T. Adam (Nasarawa State University, Keffi), Eve Dominic (Benue State University, Makurdi), Olushola Oladoja (University of Jos), Salahudeen Sulieman (University of Abuja), Musa Moses Atah (Nasarawa State University, Keffi), Jeremiah Friday (Benue State University, Makurdi), and Mamud Abubakar (Kwara State University, Malete).
However, Abbah Owocho (Benue State University, Makurdi) and four other aspirants were disqualified for failing to meet the student status requirements outlined in the association’s constitution.
The screening process was conducted in accordance with NANS’ constitutional provisions to ensure that only eligible and bona fide students participate in the election, maintaining the credibility and integrity of the association.
The screening report was jointly signed and released by Prince Koyoyo, Chairman of NANS ICPC 2025, and Comrade Adio Friday, Secretary of the committee.
