The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its recent airstrike in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State was aimed at known terrorist hideouts. This statement comes in response to reports alleging civilian casualties during the operation.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, addressed the claims, asserting that the airstrike was conducted based on credible intelligence and confirmed surveillance of the target area.
Ali emphasized that the location had been a notorious stronghold for terrorists over the past two years, and the successful strike is expected to significantly reduce incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in Kaduna and surrounding areas.
In light of the civilian casualty reports, NAF has launched an investigation to verify the allegations and will release its findings to the public.
“We are not taking these allegations lightly. Our aim is always to achieve our operational objectives without causing harm to civilians,” Ali stated. “A thorough investigation is currently underway, and we will keep the public informed as more facts emerge.”
