The Air Component of Operation Delta Safe launched a decisive blow against illicit oil refining operations, obliterating clandestine sites and confiscating stolen crude oil products detected from March 25th to 26th in various locations including Bille, Dariama, Elem Bekinkiri, Temakiri, Opumakiri, and Degema areas of Rivers State.
A barge laden with illicitly refined products was intercepted and neutralized at Bille, while active illicit refining sites equipped with reservoirs and cooking apparatus were identified and swiftly dismantled at Dariama and Tumakiri.
Elem Bekinkiri and Opumakiri revealed abandoned illicit refining sites upon inspection.
In Degema, numerous operational illicit refining sites, complete with reservoirs brimming with unlawfully refined substances, were discovered and promptly eradicated through strategic engagement, setting them ablaze.
According to a statement by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, certain refining sites in Bille and Dariama, previously targeted for destruction, have unfortunately resurfaced.
The statement reiterates the commitment of the NAF and collaborating security agencies to relentlessly pursue and disrupt the activities of oil theft syndicates operating within the Niger Delta region and beyond.
