Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa was the standout performer on Wednesday as Kano Pillars secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Rangers International in Enugu, in a Week 7 NPFL encounter.
Kano Pillars took control early, with their first goal coming in the 24th minute. By the 47th minute, the visitors had added two more goals, extending their lead to 3-0. Before halftime, Pillars further solidified their dominance with a fourth goal in the 54th minute, putting the game seemingly out of reach for Rangers.
However, the Flying Antelopes, under the guidance of coach Fidelis Ikechukwu, staged a spirited comeback in the second half, reducing the deficit to 4-3. Despite their efforts, Rangers were unable to equalize, and the match ended with a 4-3 scoreline amid heavy rain at the Enugu stadium.
Two of Kano Pillars’ goals came from penalty kicks, as the team continuously applied pressure on the Rangers’ defense. However, tension flared when Kano Pillars’ head coach, Usman Abdala, received a red card for challenging the referee’s decision in the second half.
The win leaves both teams level on 10 points in the NPFL standings, with Kano Pillars sitting in 5th place, while Rangers trail behind.
Ahmed Musa, Kano Pillars’ captain, was instrumental throughout the match, playing a key role in orchestrating all four of his team’s goals, earning widespread praise from fans and observers.
