Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu is the new Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This is contained in a statement by the Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, who said the President acted on the provisions of ICPC Act, 2000 empowering him to do so.
Ngelale said the move is in line with the Renewed Hope mandate of the present administration to reform key institutions and enhance Nigeria’s war on corruption.
Dr Aliyu’s appointment has paved way for the outgoing Chairman to proceed on pre-end of tenure leave beginning on November 4, 2023, ahead of the expiration of his tenure on February 3, 2024.
The Presidential Spokesman pointed out that Dr Aliyu’s appointment is subject to the approval of the Senate.
Similarly, the President also appointed Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu as the Secretary of the Commission.
Ngelale maintained that Oparaodu’s appointment does not need Senate’s approval, hence his appointment is with immediate effect.
President urged the new ICPC management to discharge their duties without fear or favour concerning all matters before them.
