Mr Macaroni Reflects on Love & Realities of Dating in Lagos

Lagos, NigeriaPopular Nigerian comedian and actor, Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has shared personal insights on love, heartbreak, and the complexities of modern relationships, especially within Lagos.

Appearing as a guest on a recent episode of the Dating in Lagos Show, hosted by media personality Ariyiike Dimples, the entertainer opened up about his emotional journey with love and the challenges he has faced.

Mr Macaroni recounted a deeply personal relationship from his university years, describing it as a time when he truly experienced love. Despite the strong bond he shared with his former partner, he explained that unforeseen circumstances ultimately kept them apart.

“There’s someone I loved deeply — and honestly, I still love her,” he admitted. “But there were many factors and tests that made it impossible for us to stay together. I don’t want to go into all the details.”

Describing his current status, he said, “I’m a single pringle — single and not searching.” On the broader subject of dating in Lagos, he expressed skepticism, labeling the experience as disorganized and overwhelming for many.

“Dating in Lagos, from what I’ve seen and heard, is chaotic — or maybe even outright anarchy,” he remarked, noting that his own dating experiences largely occurred outside the city.

Mr Macaroni also reflected on the deeper meaning of love, challenging the notion that romantic relationships are built solely on material gestures or picture-perfect moments.

“Love isn’t just about fun, gifts, or social media highlights,” he said. “True love involves commitment and perseverance — not suffering, but understanding that it won’t always be rosy. When you say you love someone, it means you’re ready to give your all, 100 per cent.”

His candid reflections have sparked conversations online, with many commending his vulnerability and perspective on emotional maturity in relationships.
