MOUAU Vice Chancellor cautions Registry staff against concealing files or causing inconvenience to students

The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, has emphasized the importance of efficient service delivery to the staff of the Registry Department.

He made this statement during the opening of the inaugural Registry Week organized by the University. Prof. Iwe warned the staff against engaging in behaviors that could hinder smooth service delivery, such as hiding important files or making life difficult for students. He urged them to uphold high standards and avoid truancy, encouraging them to take advantage of training opportunities provided by the seminar.

The Chairman of the occasion, Sam Onuigbo, highlighted the importance of modernizing registry systems in Nigerian universities to enhance service delivery and resource management. He stressed the need for well-trained staff and modern equipment to address issues such as missing scripts, delayed scripts, and fake certificates, ultimately ensuring integrity in document handling.

The keynote speaker, Titus Igwe, challenged the registry staff to adopt efficient methods for managing available resources in response to current economic challenges. He urged universities to transition from outdated record-keeping systems and prioritize serving students effectively.

In attendance at the event was Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Kenechukwu Nwosu.

Governor Otti promised increased support for Michael Okpara University and the broader education sector, underscoring the significance of ongoing improvement in service delivery and resource management within Nigerian universities.
