Mixed Reactions Trail Fufeyin’s Prayer for Tinubu

Warri, Nigeria —  Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, Founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, has sparked online debate following his prayer for President Bola Tinubu and a plea for the restoration of Nigeria’s glory.

Speaking during the 2025 crossover service at Mercy City, Fufeyin prayed for strength for Tinubu and urged the government to prioritize the welfare of struggling Nigerians. “Father, your children are suffering in Nigeria. This year, cause our leaders, our President, and the cabinet to remember the poor. The Nigeria that we used to know, bring it back to us. We pray for our President, Bola Tinubu; may God give him strength,” he declared.

The crossover service, described by many as the largest in Africa, drew millions of worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond. The event featured intense prayers, worship sessions, and testimonies of miracles but became a focal point for controversy due to Fufeyin’s remarks about Tinubu.

Social media reactions were sharply divided. Critics questioned the timing and focus of the prayer, with some blaming the administration for widespread economic hardships. One user, @Chizoba_okafor, remarked, “Which kind prayer be this? Why will anybody pray for T-pain?”

Another commenter, @Mujirat_Aremu, compared Tinubu’s leadership to biblical figures, saying, “See as people dey hungry, you dey pray for Pharaoh. Even children of Israel no suffer for Pharaoh bad like this!”

However, many supported Fufeyin’s call for divine intervention, commending his efforts to seek solutions through faith. @favorSamson wrote, “See as this man packs out massive multitude as Crossover Service… with all the dragging everywhere, still choke.”

The cleric, known for his philanthropic outreach and advocacy on national issues, emphasized the need for collective prayer and support to overcome the nation’s challenges. His prayer comes at a time when Nigerians are grappling with high inflation, unemployment, and other economic difficulties.
