Ministry Distributes Food Items to Women Groups

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has distributed food items to women groups in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of its “Renewed Hope Year-End Intervention” aimed at supporting vulnerable families during challenging economic times.

Speaking at the program’s launch, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by women and their families.

“This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to ensure no one is left behind. It is a step towards addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable groups and building a more inclusive society,” the minister stated.

Hajiya Imaan added that the intervention program would be extended nationwide as part of the government’s strategy to prioritize the welfare of women and children.

“Women are pivotal to achieving our ambitious goal of building a $1 trillion economy. By empowering women across sectors such as agriculture, technology, and the creative industries, we can unlock their full potential and foster national development,” she said.

The Minister further reiterated the administration’s dedication to protecting and empowering women, children, and other vulnerable groups as a cornerstone of its policies. “As the backbone of our society, empowering women is key to creating resilient and thriving communities,” she added.

Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir, Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, and Mrs. Oghogho Musa, National President of the Defence Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), lauded the initiative as timely and impactful, especially for women grappling with economic challenges.

Representatives from women groups also expressed their gratitude, pledging to ensure fair distribution of the items to reach those most in need.
