In a pivotal meeting held in Abuja, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil), affirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to resolving the ownership discord surrounding the Atala Oil Field, a key asset of Bayelsa State. The commitment was voiced during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Bayelsa State Government, led by Governor Senator Douye Diri.
Senator Lokpobiri emphasized the Federal Government’s openness to collaborate with State Governors to propel the nation’s energy sector forward. Addressing the Atala Oil Field dispute and related concerns, the Minister assured a swift and impartial examination, stating, “We will promptly investigate the matter and ensure a fair judgment.”
Reiterating the government’s commitment, he underlined the intention to work alongside state authorities to create a conducive environment for investor success. Governor Douye Diri lauded the Minister’s exceptional performance in transforming Nigeria’s energy sector and urged urgent intervention in restoring Atala oil field to Bayelsa State.
