Minister Urges 462 Newly Commissioned Police Cadets to Uphold Dedication and Professionalism

Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on the 462 newly commissioned police cadets to demonstrate dedication, effectiveness, and professionalism in their duties, ensuring enhanced police service to citizens.

Speaking at the passing out parade for the 6th Regular Course (2018) Cadets, held at the Police College in Wudil, Kano State, Gaidam emphasized the importance of their role in improving the nation’s police system. The parade was reviewed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to a statement by ministry spokesperson Bolaji Kazeem, the minister commended the cadets for completing five years of rigorous academic and professional training. He reminded them of the nation’s high expectations and urged them to demonstrate fairness and accountability in the execution of their responsibilities.

Reflecting on their training, Gaidam stressed that it has prepared them for the complexities of policing, adding that their character and integrity will shape their careers. He said, “It is a privilege to serve Nigeria and ensure the safety and security of our citizens. Though challenges lie ahead, you must remain committed to creating lasting change.”

Gaidam also underscored the importance of community engagement, urging the cadets to focus on building trust and cooperation with the communities they serve. He called for improved coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement to create a unified front against crime.

The minister highlighted ongoing reforms led by the Ministry of Police Affairs, aimed at improving the operational efficiency, welfare, and morale of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). These efforts include policy reforms, town hall meetings with stakeholders, and strengthening the Police Community Relations Committee to enhance community safety.
