Minister Bagudu Advocates Technological Advancements in Budgeting Processes

Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, has urged Planning Officers nationwide to embrace technology-driven approaches to enhance budgeting and planning procedures, particularly in rural areas.

During a visit to Abuja by Muktar Ahmed, the Commissioner of the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission, Sen. Bagudu emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to streamline and improve the efficiency of budgeting and planning activities.

Highlighting the significance of effective planning in societal development, Sen. Bagudu commended the Kaduna State Government for establishing the State Planning Commission, underscoring the vital role of planning and goal setting in fostering progress.

Nebeolisa Anako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, echoed Sen. Bagudu’s sentiments, emphasizing the pivotal role of planning as the cornerstone of national development, aligning with shared objectives.

In his address, Commissioner Muktar Ahmed advocated for the adoption and scaling up of the Community Development Charter (CDC) framework, currently operational within Kaduna State, to a national level. This framework aims to enhance community participation, transparency, and ownership of plans and policies, ultimately improving service delivery.

Ahmed further proposed the allocation of special intervention funds through budgetary allocations to support medium to long-term development goals across key sectors, while also urging the federal government to facilitate training on Monitoring and Evaluation and the establishment of an Economic Planning Board.

Additionally, Ahmed solicited support for the adoption of the Local Government Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (LFTAS) Programme, designed to bolster fiscal transparency, performance, and sustainability at the local government level.

The purpose of the visit, according to Commissioner Muktar Ahmed, was to garner support for various economic development tools, techniques, networks, and skills aimed at fostering economic growth and development. He was accompanied by senior management staff from the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission.
