Meta Unveils AI-Video Editing Tool Across Its Platforms

Menlo Park, CaliforniaIn a major step toward democratizing video content creation, Meta has launched a cutting-edge generative AI video editing tool, designed to simplify and elevate the video editing experience for users across its platforms.

The newly introduced feature is accessible via the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, and the standalone Edits app. It empowers users to creatively transform short-form videos (up to 10 seconds) with over 50 pre-designed AI prompts, eliminating the need for prior editing expertise.

With just a few taps, users can apply stylistic and imaginative changes to their videos — modifying outfits, environments, lighting, and aesthetic themes. For a limited period, Meta is offering this service free of charge, with direct sharing options available to Facebook, Instagram, and the Meta Discover feed.

Meta emphasized its mission to make creativity accessible to everyone:

“Whether you’re reshaping cherished memories or producing fresh content for your followers, this tool brings your vision to life with ease,” the company stated.

The innovation builds upon Meta’s long-standing investment in artificial intelligence research, leveraging technologies like MovieGen, Make-A-Scene, and the Llama image foundation models. By integrating various AI capabilities — spanning image, audio, and video generation — the new tool presents a seamless user experience for content transformation.

Examples of its functionality include reimagining a rainy day clip into a softly lit dreamscape or turning everyday footage into vintage comic book scenes or video game-inspired sequences. Meta collaborated closely with digital creators to tailor the AI prompts for mainstream appeal while keeping the process intuitive through the Edits interface.

In a future update scheduled for later this year, Meta plans to introduce support for custom text-based video editing, allowing for even greater creative flexibility.

Currently available in the U.S. and over a dozen other countries, this launch is part of Meta’s broader ambition to advance AI-powered content creation throughout its ecosystem.

“This is just the start,” Meta said. “We’re eager to see how people use AI to tell stories, create art, and connect with others in entirely new ways.”
