Mercy Johnson Denies Rumors About Her Health Issues

Lagos, NigeriaPopular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, has dismissed widespread rumours suggesting she is battling cancer, clarifying that she is in good health and has fully recovered from a past thyroid-related issue.

The clarification came in a video shared on her social media platforms, following growing concerns sparked by an old clip from her show Mercy’s Menu, where she discussed a prior health scare involving her thyroid. The resurfaced clip had led to public speculation, largely due to her noticeable weight loss and the context in which the clip was shared.

Expressing gratitude to fans and supporters, Mercy Johnson acknowledged the outpouring of love and prayers. She, however, explained that her words were taken out of context.

“First and foremost, thank you so much to everyone who has been calling, sending messages, and praying for me. I truly appreciate it,” the actress said.

She further clarified: “I do not have cancer. I had a cancer scare in the past. That’s different. I had a swelling on my neck, and my doctor was concerned, so I underwent thyroid surgery. I’m fine now. People misunderstood the message in the clip that’s going around.”

Reiterating her good health, she assured fans there was no cause for alarm. “This phone has been buzzing like crazy. I am perfectly fine And I do not have cancer—in Jesus’ name. So thank you all for checking up on me,” she said with heartfelt emotion.

Mercy Johnson concluded by urging the public to verify information and watch the full context of any clip before drawing conclusions.

The video has since helped to calm public concern, as fans continue to send well wishes and express relief over the actress’s health status.
